In the Cup
This natural-processed Burundi offering is fun, fruit-forward, and seriously juicy. Blackberry jam takes center stage, bursting with rich, deep sweetness. With a citrusy complexity and velvety body that evoke key lime pie, it’s balanced by the warm, caramelized sensation of butterscotch. A touch of orange peel brightens the cup, rounding out this clean, complex, and deeply satisfying coffee.
Origin & The Producer
Bavyeyi coffee is grown in the rich volcanic soil of Ngozi Province in northern Burundi, an area renowned for exceptional coffee production. This lot comes from JNP Coffee, a company committed to empowering farmers — many of whom are Muslim women — through quality-driven production and community collaboration. The name Bavyeyi, meaning "parents" in Kirundi, was chosen by JNP founder Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian in honor of her own mother, who grew up in Ngozi and helped her family grow coffee. The farmers working with JNP share a passion for excellence, often collaborating with JNP’s Q-grader to refine their techniques and elevate the quality of their harvests.
More On Processing
This coffee is grown at 1800 meters above sea level, where the high elevation and volcanic soil create ideal conditions for slow, dense bean development. The natural processing brings out the coffee’s inherent sweetness and vibrant fruit character, resulting in a truly distinctive and memorable cup.
