Tasting notes: Passionfruit, strawberry, honey.
In the Cup
This is a really exciting cup! It is a natural processed coffee, yielding a very fruit-forward cup, jam-packed with berries, tropical fruit, chocolate and honey sweetness. It's very clean and complex. The flavors pair so well with a heavier body than we sometimes expect from a fruit-forward coffee. We love it brewed as a pour-over method using a V-60. When brewed with an Aeropress, it retains its silky body and a gentler berry character. It's simply lovely!
Origin & Producer
We're so excited to roast this coffee from La Ele Estate located in Bajo Canet region. The farm was founded only 3 years ago by Alberth Monge along with two friends. Alberth is new to specialty coffee production. But his enthusiasm and care about quality, along with the farm being located in one of the highest-altitude micro-regions in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica - results in a beautifully complex cup.
Varietal
Villa Sarchi is a rare coffee varietal and is unique to Costa Rica. Discovered in the late 1990s. A natural mutation of the Bourbon varietal, it is also known for its high yields, resistance to disease, and its ability to thrive in the high-altitude regions of the country.
